DKZ APS Air Pressure Sealing

Blocking and throttling of liquids and gases are usually not a problem, with the exception being if there are high levels of solids included. However, wear of the sealing elements in the shut-off valves occurs when bulk goods are transported, depending on the type, shape, crystalline structure and abrasive behaviour of the bodies, crystals or particles.

The emission requirements and the need for absolute gas and dust-tight feeding/discharging and dosing of difficult gaseous, liquid, pasty and dusty media made the development of special shut-off devices a necessity.

Based on the above parameters, we set out over 10 years ago to develop the butterfly valve series
DKZ 103 APS ® and DKZ 110 APS ®, which have so far proven themselves even under the most difficult of operating conditions.

Functional principle

APS (Air Pressure Sealing) means that when the valve is "closed", the sealing element - which is vulcanised into the valve housing - is externally actuated pneumatically and is therefore evenly pressed onto the entire circumference of the valve disc. The contact pressure is adjusted using an external pressure valve.

1. Butterfly valve open - free passage for the material flow, sealing element relaxed
2. Valve closed, but no contact between sealing element and valve disc. Therefore no mechanical wear. Sealing element still relaxed.
3. APS (Air Pressure Sealing) implements the constant protective sealing by means of the adjustable contact pressure of the sealing element on the valve disc. Pressure-tight up to 10 bar over the entire circumference - depending on the nominal width. Valve closed, sealing element pneumatically tensioned.
